Established in 2019, Hela Expedition has quickly become one of Sri Lanka’s premier wildlife and eco-tourism operators. However, our roots in sustainable tourism go much deeper. Since 2006, we’ve been dedicated to promoting eco-friendly travel, particularly through wildlife-based tourism in the southern regions of Sri Lanka.

The best time to visit Sri Lanka depends on where you want to go — even though it is a small island, the climate varies dramatically depending on the season. The north-east monsoon, which can influence the entire island, and the south-west monsoon, which is less severe and affects the south and west coasts as well as the Hill Country, are the two monsoons that affect the island's climate. Despite the rain, the temperature along the coast rarely goes below 25 degrees; however, due to the higher altitude, it is a little cooler in the Hill Country. Between December and April is the greatest season to visit the west and south coasts, as well as the Cultural Triangle, while May through October is the best time to visit the east coast.

About Founders
Hela Expeditions was founded by a passionate wildlife enthusiast and dedicated conservationist with a profound connection to nature. Beginning his career with the Young Zoologist Association in Sri Lanka, he developed his expertise as a young conservationist and gained extensive experience as a researcher across various national parks. His global travels have provided valuable insights into creating personalized adventures that cater to travelers’ desires, making every experience unique. Currently serving as a National Park conservation ranger in the Arabian Peninsula, his deep commitment to conservation and vast knowledge of ecosystems enrich every journey we offer, ensuring that travelers connect meaningfully with Sri Lanka’s wilderness.
